Welcome! Streamline Art Video
is proud to introduce you to Debra Huse.
If you are like publisher Eric Rhoads, you’ve recognized times when your paintings just didn’t have that “X factor” that makes people stop and take notice. “The problem for me was, I knew my skills were lacking something. I just didn’t know what it was or where to search for solutions. But I kept looking at what caught my attention. Then, I found her. I decided that Debra was going to be my guide to add to what I knew about impressionism. It was such a good decision; I wish I had found her sooner!”
So, who is Debra Huse?
Debra was “drawn” into art at a VERY young age. Her mom was an artist, so it was around her constantly. When her mom saw Debra’s natural talent, she strongly encouraged it. She was able to get Debra into professional lessons at age 10. Then, shortly after that, Debra was taking college courses at age 12.
Debra attended Indiana University and studied graphic design. Upon graduation, she got a painting job with the now-famous C.W. Mundy.
She then moved to California, where she pursued a career as an art director. After her workdays were done, she would paint! Every night from 8 p.m. until about 11 p.m., she would paint and work on her skills.
Artists! Does this sound familiar? Do you paint every chance you get? Or when you have some unexpected time in your day, do you wish you could be painting? There is something relaxing AND invigorating about getting your paints out and creating that world on the canvas where you are in total control.
But, if you’re like Eric, you’ve had that frustration set in when your painting doesn’t match what you WANT it to look like!
That’s when you realize that you need to bring your skills UP!
Debra also had a desire to become better. So she studied with artists she respected.
She began working with a few of them, and studying the other marine masters.
You’ll discover that as you learn from Debra in this “IMPRESSIONISM” video,
the authority and talents of these greats will flow through her to you!
They include:
· C.W. Mundy · Ken Auster · Edgar Payne · Armin Hansen · Charles Movalli
Debra became so accomplished that she won the Charles Movalli Award at Cape Ann plein air event.
In this video, Debra will reveal a technique she learned from one of her mentors which completely changed the way she painted.
She developed a discipline to utilize this technique with every painting, and it works. When she started doing this, people noticed her paintings more. Collectors began seeking her paintings out more. The same can happen for you once you understand and put this in place when you are painting.
The Gallery of her Dreams
In 1998, on beautiful Balboa Island, Debra opened her own gallery. That became her base of operations as she showed and sold her own art and that of other
hand chosen award-winning plein air artists.
Living and working on Balboa Island, Debra and her husband Randy have a boat that allows them to explore the surroundings and paint gorgeous scenes that not many people can experience. Plus, the water is a huge inspiration for her. She loves watching the colorful sailboats racing on the water. The water is calling.
She immerses herself in the environment and shares what she looks for and how she captures every detail. And now, through her paintings, people can feel like they are there with her.
“I want to portray how I feel about the boats in my paintings”— Debra Huse
Debra’s attention to the texture of each color and to her application technique is amazing to watch. Each brush performs a different job. The quality of the brush and the way you use it must be in perfect harmony. Only then will you get the effect that will amaze!
The Brush is Key.
Debra discovered early on in her career that brushes are not all created equal.
She used almost every brand trying to find the one that would give her the feel and effect she was after. Finally, she gave up and created her own set in cooperation with Rosemary & Co.
Debra explains in this video “IMPRESSIONISM”, the THREE core types of brushes that you MUST have and the TWO techniques you need to practice to get the best out of those brushes.
THE RIGHT BRUSHES ARE A SECRET WEAPON — Debra has used almost every brush made and finally created her own line of brushes in cooperation with Rosemary & Co. These brushes are just one of her secret weapons. In this video, she’ll explain why and give you all the information to make the right brush selection for you.
How to eliminate muddy paint…The brushes are critical, but that’s only part of the equation. As you put the paint on the canvas, you may create “muddy” colors — and Debra has solved that problem.
She shares her amazingly simple solution for avoiding the overworking of the surface that often creates that muddy mess.
She’ll also show you how to gain incredible confidence as you put paint on the canvas. You’ll experience the freedom of not being a slave to your subject.
Your creative side will be let loose as Debra entertains you and sneaks in that education that will make you a stronger, better, more confident landscape artist.
The 3 composition secrets Debra shares…When you compose your painting, Debra says there are only THREE elements you must execute perfectly. She goes through each one in an easy, fun, lighthearted way.
Once you learn these three keys, you’ll be able to identify them in each one of Debra’s paintings. And, most importantly, you’ll be able to easily put them to use in your paintings.
Look up! The sky can’t be ignored. Debra has painted the sky so often that she finally figured out the “go to” sky colors.
Do you know what they are? Debra will share them with you. Wait until you see exactly what colors they are. You may be shocked! But the proof is in her finished paintings that immediately stir a genuine sense of awe. But most people don’t notice how perfect and beautiful the sky is (unless it’s not so perfect). It is part of the total scene.
Debra knows how to paint the sky with the clouds that complete the emotional connection. When it’s done right, it’s not noticed. Debra sees this, and she has spent years perfecting the sky. Save time and learn from the best. Learn from Debra. She will show you how to paint the sky.
This is “opportunity knocking”! It’s not every day you get the chance to be taught by one of the very best modern-day impressionist landscape painters. We at Streamline Art Video, scour the artist landscape for the very best, and there are very few artists of Debra’s caliber. Most importantly, there are NONE with her style and her set of accumulated secrets to share.
